Michael Hatfield

Michael Hatfield is a successful entrepreneur and native of Indiana. Hatfield is the founder of Petaluma, California-based Calix, a company that creates fiber optic network products for use in telecommunications.

Prior to founding Calix, Hatfield was co-founder and chief operating officer of Cerent Corporation, an industry leader in high-speed optical transport. In August of 1999, Cisco Systems purchased Cerent, a privately held company. Before Cerent, Hatfield was the original vice president of marketing at Advanced Fibre Communications (AFC). During his tenure, AFC grew from a start-up to a publicly traded company. Hatfield has also held product management roles at DSC Communications and Indiana Bell Telephone.

Hatfield earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Mathematical Economics from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. in Finance from Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
